Discover the secrets of Croatian cuisine, enjoy the food and wine and visit UNESCO heritage Plitvice lakes!
Day 1 – Zagreb
Arrival at the Zagreb Airport (British Airways/Croatia Airlines) and transfer to your hotel. Meeting with an English speaking guide, informal city tour with a short break in a cosy Wine Shop. Croatian wine and olive oil tasting with an English speaking sommelier. Dinner in one of the recommended restaurants in the city center to experience Zagreb by night. Overnight.
Day 2 – Zagreb – NP Plitvice Lakes
Breakfast at the hotel, meeting with an English speaking driver in a hotel lobby and departure in a private transfer for Plitvice Lakes, the largest National Park in Croatia, under UNESCO protection with 16 lakes and waterfalls surrounded by dense woods. Arrival at Plitvice around noon and a short break for coffee and lunch (lunch box). Beginning of the three hour walking tour of the Lakes. Departure for Zagreb. Optional dinner or a drink with the “locals” in one of the recommended venues in the city center.
Note: some parts of the National Park can be closed in the winter period due to a high water level or snow.
Day 3 – Zagreb
Breakfast at the hotel. Saturday morning coffee “alfresco” as the locals do, exploring Zagreb a little bit more and learn how to cook traditional Croatian dishes. Meeting with your cooking teachers at the main square which is named after the famous Count (Ban) Josip Jelačić. Continue to Dolac, a famous open air farmers market to buy some ingredients, depending on the season, for our cooking class. After visiting the market, meeting with an English speaking guide and sightseeing of the mediaeval Upper Town, the Stone gate, St. Mark’s Church, St. Catherine’s Church and the Tower Lotršćak. At high noon leaving for the cooking course venue to experience more about the history of Croatian cuisine and become a Croatian chef. Depending on your preferences, preparing and tasting of two dishes with the ingredients we have bought at the farmers market.
After lunch it is time to explore Zagreb by yourself, the Museum of Broken Relationships, the 19th century National Theater, the Museum of Arts & Crafts, the University and the beautiful Zrinjevac Park. Five o’clock coffee and cake in one of the famous Zagreb patisserie-s.
Optional dinner or a drink with the “locals” in one of the recommended venues in the city center. Overnight.
Day 4 – Zagreb
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the Zagreb Airport, depending on your time of departure.
3 nights at the selected hotel in a double/twin room with breakfast , luxury transfer airport- hotel-airport, walking tour of Zagreb with an English speaking guide, half day cooking class (2 course lunch, 1 glass of Croatian wine and coffee included), wine tasting of 5 different Croatian wines, Croatian cold cuts and olive oil, full day excursion to Plitvice Lakes NP and Rastoke – The Millers Village (transfer, guide, entrance ticket and lunch box included).
